Liverpool rejects Bayern Munich’s $30 million offer

FOOTBALL NEWS Premier League

Liverpool has rejected Bayern Munich’s offer of £30 million for Sadio Mane, a forward from Senegal.

The Reds are perplexed by the German club’s offer, which was made after an initial bid reportedly worth up to £25 million was rejected.

Liverpool is reportedly seeking approximately €50 million (£42.8 million) for 30-year-old Mane, which is comparable to Bayern Munich’s valuation of 33-year-old Robert Lewandowski.

Both Mane and Lewandowski have one year remaining on their respective contracts.

After a decade with Bayern, the Polish international Lewandowski wants to move to Barcelona this summer.

Mane has been less forthcoming about his plans. The forward joked over the weekend that he would be guided by public opinion in his native Senegal, implying that the majority of his countrymen would prefer he leave Anfield.

However, the forward has previously hinted that he will remain at Liverpool, promising a “unique” response regarding his future.

Since joining Liverpool from Southampton for £36 million in June 2016, Mane has scored 120 goals, helping the club win the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.

In 2018, he extended his contract with the club, which expires at the end of the 2019 season.

Liverpool also faces a dilemma regarding the future of Mohamed Salah, who will be a free agent in the summer of 2023.

Salah has stated that he intends to remain with Liverpool for the upcoming season, but Barcelona is rumored to be interested in signing him as a free agent at the conclusion of the current season

Liverpool was linked with a bid for 22-year-old Uruguayan and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez on Wednesday.
