BOXING: KSI vs Swarmz

Both KSI vs. Swarmz and KSI vs. Luis Alcaraz Pineda, advertised as 2 Fights 1 Night, were professional crossover boxing matches contested by British YouTuber KSI on the same night. KSI faced British rapper Swarmz and Mexican boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda. Both matches took place at The O2 Arena in London, England on August 27, 2022. KSI was initially set to meet Alex Wassabi, however Wassabi was forced to withdraw due to a concussion.

KSI was slated to meet Ivan Nikolov as his second opponent after Swarmz. However, due to suspicions that Nikolov is a white supremacist and Neo-Nazi, Nikolov was forced to withdraw from the fight.

KSI stated via Twitter on 4 May 2022 that he would shortly return to boxing against an undisclosed opponent. Nearly three years have passed since KSI defeated Logan Paul by split decision in their 2019 rematch. On 1 July, it was announced that KSI would meet Alex Wassabi, who had beaten his brother Deji earlier. The fight was announced to take place at The O2 Arena in London, England on August 27, 2022.

Wassabi withdrew from the bout on August 6 due to a concussion he sustained while training. Swarmz, who was revealed as KSI’s opponent the same day, was contracted as a backup fighter in the event that Wassabi backed out.

On August 16, it was reported that KSI will face a second opponent, resulting in the event being billed as “2 Fights 1 Night.” Luis Alcaraz Pineda was revealed to be KSI’s second opponent on August 20. Ivan Nikolov, a Bulgarian professional boxer, was previously named as KSI’s second opponent before Luis. However, he was removed from the fight after it was discovered that he had tattoos on his body referencing Neo-Nazi groups and insignia.

In addition to the tattoos, images of Nikolov surrounded by several swastika indicate that he is a member of the Neo-Nazi movement.

The fight was accessible exclusively on DAZN PPV in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Ireland, while it was streamed on DAZN globally. Misfits Boxing, KSI’s promotional organisation, and DAZN had struck a multi-event arrangement for various celebrity boxing events titled “MF & DAZN: X Series,” with KSI vs. Swarmz and KSI vs. Pineda listed as 001.

The fight card, which included the main event and co-main events, was revealed on July 9, 2022. It included KSI versus Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda, FaZe Temper versus Slim Albaher, and Deji versus Fousey. Six days later, on July 15, the fight’s undercard was confirmed, featuring FaZe Sensei versus King Kenny, Sam Hyde versus IAmThmpsn, Salt Papi versus Andy Warski, and DeenTheGreat versus Evil Hero.
This event will mark the first time that the official Influencer Championship Boxing (ICB) will be on the line, including KSI vs. Swarmz for the cruiserweight title.

On July 29, 2022, YouTube commentator Wade Plemons staged a virtual face-off between KSI and Wassabi (before to Wassabi’s replacement by Swarmz[4]). During the face-off, KSI revealed that he was just fighting Wassabi as a “warmup” for a bout with his long-term opponent Jake Paul, and that he needed to prove to Paul that he is the “A-side.”
Then, KSI emphasised that a victory over Wassabi would give him more leverage in negotiations with Paul regarding numerous logistical parts of their contract, such as the location and weight limitations of a future battle.
